Eligibility for Adult Children Effective September 23, 2010, and in compliance with the Affordable Care Act, Community Vision Care extends insurance coverage to adult children on their parents’ plan until the child reaches the age of 26. Adult dependents under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage regardless of student status, financial dependency, residency with parent, employment status or marital status. Parents with dependents who are veterans can keep them on their plan up to age 30. Civil Union Act Effective June 1, 2011, and in compliance with the Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act, Community Vision Care will extend the same benefits to parties of a civil union (same and opposite-sex couples) as that of spouses, if these parties are eligible through your benefit plan.
